NASA-Dryden began looking at a joined-wing aircraft that took advantage of the structural benefits of connecting the wings to the elevators forming a diamond-like shape as viewed from the top of the aircraft. Additional work is required on this project to examine the structural advantages or radar advantages as well as any aerodynamic disadvantages.
