Autonomous vehicles are viewed by many as the future of avionics, eventually leading to unpiloted passenger vehicles traveling around the globe. One of the greatest challenges faced by such vehicles is the necessity for real-time intelligent decision making in response to new data or a recent structural or data loss. Intricately tied to this are the development and implementation of validation and verification techniques for non-deterministic system. The Software Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) Facility is working on research in this area.
